Study Summary: This is a nationwide clinical trial looking at the safety and potential effectiveness of a new therapeutic treatment. Study visits will be: a screening appointment, first day of treatment here at the VMC and careful followup for 6 hours (may leave the dog overnight), Day 2, 4, 7, 14, month 1 and month 2 rechecks. The study pays for exams, treatment, some diagnostic tests, and management of any treatment side effects.
Potential Benefits:
Eligibility Requirements: We are looking for dogs with these criteria: •measurable melanoma, osteosarcoma, soft tissue sarcoma, squamous cell carcinoma (histologic or cytologic diagnosis, may be done at referring veterinarian or here) •generally feeling well (eating, drinking, walking on their own) •no evidence of infection and not on antibiotics in the past 7 days •no anti-cancer therapy in the past 21 days (chemotherapy, radiation, prednisone, immunotherapy) •no tumors where an abscess (infection) would cause major symptoms
